Who is the best candidate for a facelift?
The best facelift candidates are healthy men and women that have skin laxity in the jowls, and neck area.
What type of anesthesia is used for a facelift?
In our office we have two options for anesthesia when having a facelift. The first option is to use local anesthesia with oral sedation. Local anesthesia numbs the area of the facelift. You will be awake during the surgery, but relaxed. The second option is general anesthesia. With general anesthesia you will be completely asleep for the surgery.
What can I expect with scarring?
After all stitches have been removed, the immature scars will appear pink. There will be varying amounts of swelling in and around the scars themselves. With the passage of time, the pink and firmness of the scar will soften, and they will become less noticeable. Each individual varies with respect to healing. It takes approximately one year for these changes to occur in most scars.
Are the results from a facelift permanent?
A facelift is not permanent. A facelift does not stop the aging process, we will all continue to age but it will improve ‘turkey necks’ and sagging skin.
What is the youngest age you will perform a facelift?
There is no specific age on when someone should have a facelift. Facial aging changes can start to become noticeable in the 30’s for most people. As these changes progress through the 40’s and 50’s deep facial lines and facial volume loss occur.
What type of results can I expect from a mini-facelift?
With a mini-facelift you can expect minimal results.
Will a facelift get rid the lines around my mouth and eyes?
A facelift will help soften the lines around your mouth, but will not get rid of them. You may need to have a dermal filler injected around your mouth to soften up those lines. The lines around your eyes will not be addressed with a facelift, you will probably need to have those lines treated with Botox, microneedling, chemical peels or blepharoplasty.
Is there anything I should do before my facelift to help with my results?
You should be on a good skin care regimen to help prep your skin before your surgery. You also want to continue to maintain your skin care regimen to help maintain your surgical results. You can schedule an appointment with us to discuss the best way to maintain your skin before and after a facelift
How long does a facelift last?
A facelift should last 5 to 10 years.
